The NMSIS Promising New Investigators Travel Scholarship, made possible by an educational grant from Janssen, L.P. and administered by Ortho-McNeil Janssen Scientific Affairs, LLC, provides an outstanding opportunity to students, fellows and residents in the psychiatric field to research, write and publish their findings on “New insights on psychotropic drug safety and side effects”. The number of quality manuscripts received each year has increased and the credibility in the program itself has developed over the last four years. After a national advertising campaign, scholarly papers from all over the country are reviewed by a panel of judges drawn from our Professional Advisory Council at NMSIS. The scientific rigor and potential clinical impact of the papers we receive become more impressive each year, as the NMSIS Promising New Investigators Travel Scholarship has gained in popularity and prestige. Submitted manuscripts must address the theme of new insights on psychotropic drug safety and side effects. NMSIS strives to meet the goal of the program to encourage and reward research by early career psychiatrists. Monies awarded are intended to support travel expenses for the new investigators to attend the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting in May, where they will receive the awards for their papers in a special ceremony at the NMSIS booth in the exhibit area. NMSIS confidently expects that the NMSIS Promising New Investigators Travel Scholarship will continue to grow as a well-known national research competition in the coming years. Watch for more information on the contest in September. Submitted entries are due in late February. |
